Training
The Course itself consists of three modules of three days
each. Assignment to bring to the beginning of the training:
1. Bring a DVD showing your work with a couple 2. Write a
paper that explains what guides you as an imago therapist and your thinking
as you worked with the couple that is on your tape
Module One: During this Module,
students show tapes of their own work and using the scoring sheet, give
themselves feedback and receive feedback from the instructor and other
students. The instructor models the traditional Imago feedback model,
and how it can be used in different ways to meet the needs of each
individual student. There is an equal emphasis on skill building,
relationship building, and character structure work. The students also
view tapes of therapists in the basic clinical training program using
the scoring sheet. They are given facts about the student and then asked
to say how they would give feedback and what they would emphasize.
Assignment between Module One and Module Two:
Bring a DVD of you doing consultation with an imago trainee or
therapist. Bring also the tape of the student’s work, and the
scoring sheet you used to access this student. Bring a written
explanation of your experience and why you decided to consult in the
manner you did.
Module Two:
During this Module, students present their consultation
tapes including a segment of the tape they supervised. They present
their experience to the group. They receive feedback from the instructor
and from their classmates.
Assignment between Module Two and Module Three is
the same.
Module Three: During this
Module, students again present their tapes and receive feedback. Module
Three also focuses on in-depth consultation and challenging topics in
consultation such as ; selfregulation and ethical issues.
